Overview

When any software changes are carried out as a part of the project (PLC Logic, SCADA Programs, Device Configuration changes to a parameter set etc.) a Software Change Form shall be developed. The template for this is available in the templates section on the Public SharePoint Site.

Once completed this form must be approved by a second reviewer/approver and then issued to the client. Approval of the change by the client must be gained before any of the proposed changes are made to the client's control system. Therefore it's essential to track the date that the change form has been submitted to the client for approval, and to follow up if the approval time is longer than expected.

Typically approval times will be between 1 week and 4 weeks depending on the complexity of the change. Based on continuous improvement feedback on previous projects, it is GTE's responsibility to continue to follow up the approval of the change form until it is all approved and ready for implementation. To aid with tracking of the approval, it is recommended to use the project meeting minutes to capture the date of submission, and the expected approval date with the action assigned to the person who submits the change form to the client.
